A large food distribution facility in North Carolina replaced their legacy climate-damaging cooling system with a natural refrigerant cooling system.
A large food distribution facility in North Carolina replaced their legacy climate-damaging cooling system with a natural refrigerant cooling system. The Ammonia refrigeration system installed has zero refrigerant emissions and was installed to replace a traditional refrigerant that caused more than 1,764 times more damage to the environment. The change permanently reduces refrigerant emissions by 100%, with no risk of reversal. This facility serves local restaurants, schools, hospitals and other eateries, acting as a distribution hub for fresh and frozen fruit, produce, meat, and other foods. The revenue from carbon credits allowed the hub to switch to a zero-impact refrigerant, substantially decarbonizing this piece of the supply chain at a lower capital cost.
