Easychar is decentralised concept that integrates biochar production process with energy consuming businesses and powers the business with sustainable energy.
Easychar projects are managed under Puro standard. Easychar gives different energy consuming businesses an opportunity to switch to carbon negative energy while reducing energy bills. Whole scale integration of Easychar concept at Bladnoch distillery will reduce distillery’s consumption of LPG down to 20% from current level. Key figures: Amount of biochar to be produced – 1728 T a year CO2e removed/avoided – 4579.20 T a year Method: Easychar integrates biochar production units into energy supply stream at distillery. Heat produced during biochar production is used to generate steam that is essential for main distillery’s business. Biochar and carbon credits are by-products of the steam generation process. Impact: Target distribution of biochar produced at the distillery is across local farmers and anaerobic digestion plants. Therefore, implementation of Easychar concept would have positive effect to local environment. CORCs importance for the project: Easychar concept generates 3 valuable products - energy for the host business, biochar and CORCs. The whole business concept becomes commercially solid only once all 3 of them are utilised properly. Without presence of CORCs sales - our business model likely would not be economically viable. Additional value: For wide range of host businesses Easychar is a source of sustainable energy, generated right on site. Our first target is Scottish whisky production as Scotland is our home. However, we are open to share benefits our concept generates with other businesses across the UK and Worldwide. Some of the target business sectors are greenhouses, vertical farms, residential and council buildings, offices, warehouses and any other locations where thermal energy is in demand.
