The project aims to restore 2,000+ hectares of mangrove forests in Myanmar, planting 9.1 million new mangrove plants.
The primary goal of the project is to restore and protect 2,065.87 hectares of degraded mangrove forests. The mangrove restoration and livelihood improvement activities of the project are implemented in the three village of Magyi, Thabawkan, and Thaegone in Ayeyarwady Region. In this project, approximately 9.1 million new mangrove plants are planted on the degraded mangrove lands. The project also contributes to poverty alleviation and livelihood improvement for the targeted local communities in which there are 2,482 households with 10,896 population in 16 targeted villages under the aforementioned three project village tracts. Major livelihood activities are income generation, cash for work, awareness raising and improving knowledge, life skill and vocational training, financial support activities, and revolving funds.
